AD Plant

Our Anaerobic Digestion plant is located near Newtownstewart, Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland.

The plant is designed to recreate a process that occurs in the natural environment where organic materials are broken down in the absence of oxygen.

Anaerobic Digestion is where food waste is added to an enclosed tank. Microorganisms called methanogens are added to break down the waste.

As the waste breaks down it creates biogas which can be collected and used to generate electricity heat or transport fuels. It also produces Biofertiliser that can be used in farming and land regeneration.
