Our Process

ALG Biogas Ltd can provide the waste management solution to your company in achieving your green recycling targets through a closed loop circular economy. Anaerobic digestion make the best use of organic materials by producing renewable energy and organic fertilizer while closing the nutrient cycle and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

In order to further reduce GHG emissions and improve energy self-sufficiency, organic fertilisers coming from digestate and compost streams are an excellent alternative to mineral fertilisers and should be increasingly deployed. They are far more sustainable than mineral fertilisers, as their production is very low (or even negative) in terms of GHG emissions, what should be acknowledged when calculating anaerobic digestion’s total GHG savings. Also, by using digestate as a fertiliser the carbon content of the soil increases through the remaining and very stable carbon content within digestate, improving soil fertility and field capacity. ALG Biogas digestate is PAS 110 certified for spreading on land.

Digesting 1000 tonnes of biodegradable waste would additionally generate:

biomethane with 140 tonnes CO2 equivalent savings by replacing fossil fuel (oil)

Organic fertiliser with approximately:

  •  5 tonnes nitrogen (N)
  •  1.5 tonnes phosphorus (P2O5)
  •  5.7 tonnes potassium (K2O)
  •  38.5 tonnes of carbon

Biomethane for vehicles

Raw biogas can be upgraded in a process which removes hydrogen sulphide, water particles and CO2 present in the gas. This process creates a gas consisting of primarily of methane and thus increasing its energy content. Clean upgraded biogas is used as a fuel for vehicles.
